Hillsborough Township: Statement from Mayor Catherine Payne on Budget Resolution (Consent #4)

Mayor Catherine Payne has issued a statement to help residents better understand the purpose of Temporary Emergency Appropriations and how they fit into the municipal budget process.

As she explained, these appropriations are a standard tool used by municipalities at the start of each year to ensure essential operations continue while the full annual budget is being finalized and adopted.

Mayor Payne emphasized that she is working closely with the Township’s Chief Financial Officer to ensure that as many outstanding bills as possible are paid in a timely and responsible manner. This collaboration is part of the Township’s ongoing commitment to transparency, fiscal stewardship, and uninterrupted delivery of services to the community.
