Hillsborough’s Mayor Catherine Payne had the kind of Friday that perfectly captures the spirit of summer in Somerset County — full of community, celebration, and hometown pride.
She started the evening at the Municipal Building, where she officiated a beautiful wedding ceremony for Amanda and Kevin, offering heartfelt congratulations as the newlyweds began their next chapter.
From there, she headed straight to TD Bank Ballpark for Hillsborough Night with the Somerset Patriots, where she threw the first pitch alongside the beloved mascot, Sparky. The crowd energy, the hometown cheers, and the summer ballpark atmosphere made it a standout moment.

The night didn’t end there. Mayor Payne wrapped up her Friday at Norz Hill Farm, joining Farmer Norz for an evening of line dancing (her words: “sorta”), enjoying a cold Flounder beer, and spending time with her “Bestie,” Luna, the farm’s famous cow who has become a local celebrity in her own right.

From weddings to baseball to farm nights, Mayor Payne’s Friday showcased the best of Hillsborough — community connections, local traditions, and the joy of showing up for the people who make the town feel like home.
