Aldo Russo has returned to his home---and the Bridgewater-Raritan school district and the community welcome him with open arms.

Mr. Russo, a 1993 graduate of Bridgewater-Raritan Regional High School, was named the new principal at the John F. Kennedy(JFK) Primary School, an appointment that was announced by the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District at the board of education meeting on Tuesday evening, July 19, in the media center at the high school.

"My dream has always been to return to Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District," Mr. Russo revealed. " I wanted to give back to the district that has giving me so much."

Superintendent Bob Beers introduced and then congratulated the new principal who replaced the retired Joe Walsh at the school that educates students up to Grade 4. Mr. Russo will begin in his new role at the start of September.

"I feel lucky to be able to recruit such a person of his stature to bring here to Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District," Beers said. "What a welcome addition."

Mr. Russo has returned to his roots after he had served for three years as the principal at the Weston Elementary School in Manville Borough. His tenure may have been just three years in Manville, but he made quite an impression. He and his team at the Manville school implemented a full-day preschool program, skill-based curriculum and tiered intervention program.

He has a strong resume in the field of education.

Prior to his career at Manville, Mr. Russo served as the principal of the Lamonte Annex Elementary School in Bound Brook for five years. He launched his career as a special education teacher in the Hunterdon Central Regional High School District and then continued teaching in the Hillsborough School District.

A star lacrosse player during his athletic days at Bridgewater-Raritan High, Mr. Russo attended St. John's University where he continued to excel on the lacrosse field for the Division 1 program.

As a youth growing up in the area, Mr. Russo was a student in Grades 1 through 3 at the Valley School, which is now the Wade Administration Building, the headquarters of the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District's central offices.

He later went on to attend the Adamsville School. During his school days in the community, Mr. Russo was an ESL (English as a Second Language) student, which has assisted in his ideals regarding the value of a quality education for all students who require the support for their unique needs. His background of contributing to students and families from diverse backgrounds in his previous positions will only increase the value of his role at the JFK Primary School. And he is fluent in three languages---English, Spanish and Italian.

He and his wife, Paige, who is a second grade teacher in the Hillsborough School District, his four children-twin daughters Sienna and Sydney (ages 15), daughter, Scarlett (12) and son, Christian (10), and his Chocolate Lab, Max, reside in Hillsborough. He is also involved in the local sports programs in Hillsborough.

"He is one of our own," Beers declared. "Aldo represents the qualities we look for in our district leadership."
