The theme for this year is “The Year of the Keeper!”
The Lighthouse Challenge of New Jersey is an annual event that takes place the third weekend of October each year. The challenge is to visit 10 land-based lighthouses, 3 lifesaving stations, 1 museum, 1 virtual site, and the Lighthouse Society of NJ site over the two-day weekend.
The State Park Service manages Absecon Lighthouse, Barnegat Lighthouse (Barnegat Lighthouse State Park), Cape May Point Lighthouse (Cape May Point State Park), and Twin Lights Historic Site.
* Please note that due to ongoing restoration work, the interior of Barnegat Lighthouse will be closed to climbing during the challenge weekend. We still invite visitors to Barnegat Lighthouse State Park to see the recently completed exterior renovation work. Raritan Neighbors are challenged - Can you visit them all?
