On December 9th, Alyssa Karkowski, 20, of Raritan, was charged with Simple Assault as a result of an incident on November 30th. On November 30th, patrol officers were dispatched to a Wall Street residence for a report of an assault and learned that Karkowski had assaulted and bit the arm of juvenile in the residence. A court date is pending for Karkowski. 

On December 9th, a 40 year old Raritan resident reported an unknown person had opened several lines of credit in his name, including a credit card that was used to purchase $3,200 worth of cell phones. The incident is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Division. 

In the early morning hours of December 10th, residents of Weiss Terrace and Woodmere Street reported that catalytic converters had been cut from their vehicles. The first theft was reported at 3:21 a.m. and officers were advised a dark colored SUV had fled the area. A patrol officer observed the suspect vehicle flee the area on First Avenue at an extremely high rate of speed. Several other towns experienced similar thefts on the same date. The incidents are being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Division.

On December 11th at 2:02 p.m., patrol officers responded to a Raritan residence for an assault. As a result of an investigation by patrol officers, a 27 year old South Plainfield man was charged with domestic violence simple assault and an arrest warrant was issued. The man was subsequently arrested by the South Plainfield Police Department and transferred to our custody. The male was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
