BRSD news: Tamara Jean-Jacques welcomes role as new Supervisor of Special Services

The attraction was there in the job title.

But once Tamara Jean-Jacques walked through the doors to the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District, she walked into a “very nice and welcome environment.”

“When I walked into my interview, I knew this was the place to be,” said Ms. Jean-Jacques, who will begin this fall as the new Supervisor of Special Services 5-8 for the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District.

”It was such a very nice and welcoming environment.’’

Ms. Jean-Jacques “jumped” at the opportunity to work with middle school and intermediate students in her role where she will supervise special service teachers at both the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School as well at the Eisenhower Intermediate School.

“I love working with these age students because they begin to express on how they feel and they look at you as role models,” Ms. Jean-Jacques said. “This is a very pivotal time for these students and I feel I am in a particular place where you can change their structure.”

She added:

“You are able to make an impact on students before they enter high school.’’

She will also supervise occupational and physical therapists in the district.

Ms. Jean-Jacques, a graduate of Union High School, comes to the district with some high-profile certificates.

She first received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from William Paterson University and her master’s in Arts, Psychology from Adelphi University in New York.

She followed those degrees with a Master’s in Arts, Educational Psychology and a Professional Diploma in School Psychology, both from New Jersey City University. Ms. Jean-Jacques earned her Psychology Doctorate from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck.

“I see the support that the school district gives to its supervisors,” said Jean-Jacques, who will work out offices in both the Middle School and at Eisenhower.
