The Bridgewater-Raritan 5th Grade Football Team, lead by Coach Keine Dorsey and his right-hand man Chris Bratus, could make history this weekend. Assisted by Coach Steve Levash, Coach Mike Brewster, Coach Anthony Lorino, and Coach Jared Mazzetta, they will play their Championship Game against Morristown on Saturday, November 18th at 9:00 am in Old Bridge at Lombardi Field.
The 5th Grade Panthers have run off 7 straight wins on their way to claiming the #1 Seed in the playoffs. Offensively they average 22 points per game. The offense faced adversity and scored on the game's last drive to pull off a 7-6 win to defeat Old Bridge, which has been a strong rival for them for years.
The Panthers' 5th-grade offense is versatile and can hit you from anywhere on the field with any player. They continued to show their talent throughout the season, putting up 37 points against West Orange. Defensively, this team has been lights out all the way, allowing only 6.7 points per game on average.
Bridgewater-Raritan 5th Grade continued their season to win 3 consecutives shut-outs blanking Cranford 19-0, West Orange 37-0, and Westfield 27-0. The first round of playoffs was played last weekend with a rematch vs. Cranford. The Panthers came out on top winning that game 28-14, giving them a Birth into the Super Bowl Championship where they will play a rematch against the #3 seeded Morristown Wild Cats.
If the Bridgewater-Raritan 5th Grade Panthers win the Super Bowl Championship this weekend, they will be the very 1st Panther team to win a Championship ever at this level.
The team is asking the community to please come out to support these amazing kids and Coaches as they work their way to victory and make history for our towns.
