Rose Day Festival Set for June 8 at Colonial Park Gardens

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ – Kick off the summer season by attending the Rose Day Festival at Colonial Park’s Rudolf W. van der Goot Rose Garden on Saturday, June 8, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The free and vibrant festival, hosted by the Somerset County Park Commission and Park Foundation, will be held at 156 Mettlers Road, Parking Lot A, in Somerset, NJ. Although admission is free, donations are appreciated. The event is open to all ages and will be held rain or shine. Pets are not permitted in the Rose Garden.

Visitors can marvel at over 3,000 beautiful roses, while also enjoying live entertainment, food trucks, artisan craft vendors, picnicking on the lawn, and an activity station for children. Rose plants will also be available for sale at the event.

Entertainers will be performing at the following times:

  • 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Borderline (Bluegrass Trio)
  • 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. – Zydeco-a-Go-Go (Zydeco & Cajun)
  • 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. – Dorsten (Folk Rock and Americana)

Rudolf W. van der Goot Rose Garden
In 2015, the Rudolf W. van der Goot Rose Garden received the World Federation of Rose Societies Award of Excellence and is noted for being one of the world’s finest rose gardens. Since the creation of the garden, caretakers have maintained its integrity and its collection of more than 3,000 roses in 345 varieties, which include heritage and newer prize-winning cultivars.
