[Skillman, NJ] – January 27, 2025 – The Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum (SSAAM), Central New Jersey’s only African American history museum, is excited to announce its application for funding through the NJ Department of Environmental Protection’s Green Acres Local and Nonprofit Assistance Program. If awarded, these funds will enable SSAAM to purchase the historic Grover House, located at 211 Hollow Road, Skillman, NJ.

This acquisition will expand SSAAM’s African American history campus and allow for the preservation of an additional historic site. The Grover House will serve as a significant resource for telling the local history of African Americans, while preserving open space for future generations to enjoy. By doing so, SSAAM continues its mission of promoting a more just and equitable future through education and preservation.
