BRIDGEWATER –Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School (SCVTHS) is pleased to announce that Priya Hasini Tunuguntla, a senior in the Graphic Communications program, has been selected as Student of the Month for October 2026. Priya is the daughter of Ram and Deepthi Tunuguntla of Branchburg.
Each month, the SCVTHS faculty and staff are asked to nominate a student who embodies a certain core attribute that has an impact on the school community. This month’s theme for the Student of the Month honor is school spirit and inclusion, and nominees were selected based on how well they built a sense of belonging on campus.
In her recommendation for the honor, science instructor Shannon Pisani praised Priya for her strong commitment to building school spirit and fostering a sense of community at SCVTHS. “Priya has taken an active role in organizing events such as Senior Sunrise and is continually looking for new ways to bring students together and strengthen our school community” said Mrs. Pisani, adding “In addition, as a Peer Mentor, she serves as a positive role model and guide for incoming freshmen, helping them feel welcomed, supported, and connected to their new school. Her enthusiasm, leadership, and dedication to making SCVTHS a more connected and spirited community make her highly deserving of Student of the Month recognition.”
Priya is very involved in activities both on and off campus. She is the President of the SCVTHS Career and Technical Education chapter of SkillsUSA, a workforce development organization, and also serves as the Secretary for the SCVTHS Student Council. She also is a member of First Robotics in Somerville, competing in robotics as well as being involved in impact and outreach activities.
Outside of school, Priya volunteers through the Rotary Club, at Robotics events, and through her temple. She spends her free time playing guitar, spending time with friends and family, and playing soccer.
Upon graduating from SCVTHS, Priya plans on attending college and pursuing a degree in a field related to business and technology. No matter where she goes or what she does, she hopes to gain new experiences and continue learning.
Priya will be recognized for her achievement during the Somerset County Vocational Board of Education meeting on Monday, October 26th.
