Chief Raymond Nolte announced the arrest of Kimberley Mitchell, 40, of Plainfield, for Burglary and Hindering Apprehension.

Sgt. Everett Holt stated on December 14th, 2023 at approximately 9:17 a.m., Raritan patrol officers were dispatched to the area of the Raritan Train Station on Anderson Street for a report of a woman rummaging through several cars in the parking lot. A NJ Transit employee in the parking lot at the time provided officers with a description of the suspect, who was later identified as Mitchell. Mitchell was located by officers on the eastbound platform and placed under arrest. Officers located proceeds from the burglaries on Mitchell and viewed surveillance footage of the incident.

During the course of the incident, Mitchell provided officers with a fraudulent name.
Mitchell was later taken to the Somerset County Jail and lodged pending a detention hearing.

We would like to remind you that the best way to prevent a burglary to your motor vehicle is to lock your vehicle and remove all valuables.

Note: The charges are merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
