A 33 Year Old Man Arrested for Child Sexual Abuse Materials in Warren Township.

WARREN TWP, N.J. – Somerset County First Assistant Prosecutor Annemarie L. Mueller, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives Meredith McKay, and Warren Township Chief of Police Robert W. Ferreiro announced the arrest of Craig Babcock, age 33, of Warren, New Jersey for distribution and possession of child sexual abuse materials.

First Assistant Prosecutor Mueller stated that during the month of May 2026, the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force notified the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office of multiple Cyber Tipline Reports provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children concerning the possession of files depicting the sexual abuse and/or exploitation of a minor via a messaging application platform.

Upon receiving these Cyber Tipline Reports, an investigation was initiated by detectives assigned to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit. The investigation led to the identification of Craig Babcock as being associated with this messaging application account.

First Assistant Prosecutor Mueller stated on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, along with members of the Warren Township Police Department, executed a Superior Court search warrant at Babcock’s residence in Warren. As a result of the search warrant, electronic devices were seized from the residence for further forensic analysis.

On the same date, detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit and members of the Warren Township Police Department took Craig Babcock into custody at his residence without incident. Defendant Babcock was transported to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office where he was processed on charges of 2nd degree Distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Materials, 3rd degree Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Materials and 3rd degree Distribution of Obscene Materials to a Minor. Defendant Babcock was lodged at the Somerset County Jail pending a court hearing on this matter.

NOTE: The charges are merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
