Local Community Organizer Announces Candidacy for NJ's 12th District

Bound Brook, N.J. — Dec. 14, 2025

Activist and community organizer Andres Jinete announced his candidacy for New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District this past week. The announcement follows several months of rallies and public appearances. “We deserve better,” Jinete said at the Defend Our Families rally in Bound Brook last weekend.

Jinete outlined three core economic demands for working families:

RENT CONTROL
● A renter’s “bill of rights” that includes compensation for displacement due to rent increases and no school-year evictions.
● Major public housing investment with a goal to make 50% of the market high-quality affordable units.

UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE
● Free single-payer universal healthcare available to everyone, regardless of status.
● Tax increases on billionaires and corporations and a proposed two-thirds cut to the military budget to fund social spending.

NO COLLEGE DEBT
● Purchase and forgive all student debt.
● Reinstate and expand tuition-free state and community colleges across the country.

Jinete, who has organized in Bound Brook and Central New Jersey, is an advocate for tenants’ rights, seniors and working families. He enters a field with several other declared candidates.
