Hunterdon Health recently underscored its commitment to preparedness by conducting an Active Shooter Drill at Hunterdon Medical Center on December 17. The exercise was designed to evaluate the hospital’s lockdown procedures and to test the coordinated response of local law enforcement and EMS teams. Importantly, patient care continued without interruption, as the drill was contained to the fourth floor within the Medical Education wing.

The event was organized by Keith Paradiso, Emergency Management & Safety Specialist for Hunterdon Health, whose leadership helped bring together a wide network of public safety partners. Participating agencies included Hunterdon County Public Safety and Emergency Management, Hunterdon County Communications, the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, Raritan Township Police Department, Readington Township Police Department, Hunterdon Medical Center Paramedics, the Hunterdon County Sheriff’s Office, Flemington‑Raritan Rescue Squad, Whitehouse Rescue Squad, and teams from Hunterdon Health Emergency Management and Security.
Exercises like this play a vital role in strengthening coordination among first responders and ensuring that safety systems function as intended. Hunterdon Health’s proactive approach reflects a broader commitment to readiness and community protection
