ICYMI - A fatal accident occurred on June 27th on Route 22 East

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Acting Chief of County Detectives Meredith McKay, and Bridgewater Township Chief of Police John B. Mitzak announced a fatal accident investigation that occurred on Route 22 East on the evening hours of Saturday, June 27, 2026, in Bridgewater Township.

Prosecutor McDonald stated that on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 8:31 p.m., Bridgewater Police Department responded to the scene of a motor vehicle crash on Route 22 East in the area of Bridge Street. Upon arrival, officers observed a motor vehicle accident involving a Nissan sedan and a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Initial on scene investigation determined that the collision occurred when the driver of the Nissan entered the motorcycle’s lane of travel. The driver of the Harley Davidson motorcycle, a male resident from South River, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver and passenger of the Nissan sedan did not report any injuries.

Members of the Somerset County Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team responded to investigate along with members of the Bridgewater Police Department Traffic Safety Unit. The investigation is currently ongoing pending the results of the Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team’s findings.
