Manville Board of Education Appoints Robert Mooney as Interim Superintendent

MANVILLE, NJ – The Manville Board of Education has officially approved the appointment of educator Robert Mooney as the Interim Superintendent of the Manville School District for the upcoming school year.

Mr. Mooney, a career educator with extensive executive leadership experience, brings a distinguished background to the district, including over 11 years as a full-time school superintendent. Following his initial retirement, he has served as an interim superintendent in more than 10 school districts across the state, guiding communities through critical administrative transitions.

"During the interview process, one thing Mr. Mooney said particularly resonated with the Board: he measures his success as an interim superintendent by how successfully the next permanent superintendent transitions into the district," said Tina Breen, President of the Manville Board of Education. "His goal is to keep Manville moving forward while ensuring our next superintendent inherits a district positioned for success. That philosophy is exactly what we were looking for."

Mr. Mooney will lead the district over the next 12 months as the Board conducts its search for a permanent leader. He has already begun integrating into the community, recently participating in the Board of Education’s annual retreat to establish key goals for the academic year. Known for his accessible leadership style, Mr. Mooney plans to maintain a strong, visible presence throughout Manville's schools and community events.

Concurrently, the Board of Education has initiated the search for Manville’s next permanent superintendent. Stakeholder feedback will play a vital role in shaping the profile for the district's future leadership.

In the coming weeks, the district will launch a dedicated Superintendent Search page on the official website, featuring project timelines, regular progress updates, and opportunities for community participation.
