Dr. John M. Paitakes was a member of the New Jersey State Parole Board for ten years. During that time he interviewed over 7000 inmates eligible for parole. The following cases represent some of the most unusual and horrendous crimes committed by parole eligible inmates.

A summary of each case will be presented. In addition, the Board’s decision to parole or not and the reason for such will be discussed. Dr. Paitakes spent twenty five years as a Probation Officer with the Somerset County Courts and taught Criminal Justice at Seton Hall University for twenty years. He was appointed to the New Jersey State Parole Board to two different terms by two different Governors. He is also the author of the book “50 Years Working in Criminal Justice”.
