BRIDGEWATER – On Saturday, November 18th, students and staff from various student organizations at Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School (SCVTHS) spent the day cleaning up leaves for elderly and disabled homeowners throughout Somerset County who are unable to do their own yard work.
The Fall Leaf Clean-Up, organized by the Somerset County Office of Volunteer Services, was attended by 21 SCVTHS students representing the National Honor Society, the National Technical Honor Society, the Future Farmers of America, (FFA), and The Empathy Equality Entrepreneurship Mission (TEEM) at SCVTHS.
SCVTHS Social Studies Teacher and National Honor Society Advisor Meghan O'Reilly Welch said "This year we were able to rake leaves at 4 residences in Bridgewater, Green Brook, and Raritan. The elderly and disabled homeowners we served were so appreciative and I am glad we have made this an annual event our students participate in. A special thanks goes out to Mr. Fargo (FFA advisor), Ms. Gichan (NHS advisor), Ms. Santiago (NTHS advisor), Mr. Eng (Yearbook advisor), Ms. Kreiss-Papalski (special education teacher), and Ms. Gotti (science teacher) for helping to make this possible."
