(TRENTON) – The New Jersey Department of Agriculture (NJDA) will host the USDA Foods Conference from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12 at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center in Edison. For the first time, students from various high schools will be in attendance to learn about the USDA foods program and sample the available offerings and provide feedback in a survey.

The conference will feature remarks by NJDA Assistant Secretary Joe Atchison III, and a number of valuable training sessions including Farm to School, Food Distribution, the Summer Food Service Program, the Child and Adult Care Food Program, and Child Nutrition.

More than 600 school food service directors, superintendents, and business administrators from all over the state have been invited to sample foods they can order for the 2024-2025 school year that meet the National School Lunch Program meal pattern requirements.

The NJDA administers the U.S. Department of Agriculture Foods Distribution program. The program takes USDA foods and distributes them to food processors at a reduced cost to school districts.

The USDA Foods Conference will take place at 9 a.m. Tuesday, December 12 at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center, 97 Sunfield Avenue, Edison, NJ 08837.
