Mithun Chigurupati Named SCVTHS Student of the Month for March 2024

BRIDGEWATER – Mithun Chigurupati, a Freshman in the Mechatronics, Engineering & Advanced Manufacturing program at Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School (SCVTHS), has been selected as Student of the Month for March 2024. Mithun is the son of Asha and Srini Chigurupati of Bridgewater.

Several instructors at SCVTHS nominated Mithun for this honor. Ms. Kristen McNerney praised Mithun’s attitude, saying he “always comes to class with a smile on his face and a greeting for the teacher and students alike. He is a great addition to the SCVTHS community!” Ms. Selma Hannan added that Mithun “participates actively in discussions, helps out his classmates, and is very respectful.”

Mithun keeps busy outside the classroom, too. He is a member of the Robotics Club and the NASA Club, and played on the SCVTHS varsity basketball squad. He also earned a place on the Principal’s Honor Roll for the first two marking periods of 2024 for his academic achievements.

In his free time, Mithun enjoys playing basketball and video games. He is a member of the Boy Scouts and has also volunteered at the Somerset County 4H Fair. He serves as a mentor for 4th grade and middle school students, helping them with their robotics lessons, and has earned two President’s Volunteer Service Awards. Mithun is looking to continue his studies, and plans to earn a degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
