Boys' golf team tees off season with a victory for Bridgewater Raritan School District

If last year’s season opener for the Bridgewater-Raritan High School boys’ golf team against Ridge High School was not already any indicator, the Panthers’ 2024 season opener against the Red Devils was going to be close.

Like last year’s season opener, this one was as narrow of a win as you can get for the Panthers.
Not even one year after a one-stroke victory in its season opener against Ridge (0-1),

Bridgewater-Raritan (1-0) delivered a similar result to tee off the 2024 season via a 160-161
triumph against the Red Devils on Thursday, March 21, at the Raritan Valley Country Club in
Bridgewater.

Panthers senior Andrew Garcia shot a one-under-par 37 to lead all golfers, while junior Anish
Parikh produced a 39 to give Bridgewater-Raritan two of its golfers with a sub-40 afternoon on
its nine-hole home course. Freshman Bobby DeCarlo and junior Joey Ciufo both shot 42 each to round out the scoring in the victory for Bridgewater-Raritan, which went 8-4 last season with its four losses coming by an average of just five strokes each.

Ridge senior Sam Dolan led the Red Devils with a two-under-par 38, while senior Rohan
Panjawi and sophomores Enzo Allain and Ethan Gallagher each tallied a score of 41 in defeat.
The Red Devils finished 10-3 last season, including a pair of one-stroke losses to Bridgewater-
Raritan and Hillsborough High School.

Next up for Ridge will be a 3:15 p.m. home matchup against Montgomery High School Tuesday,
March 26, at the Basking Ridge Country Club in Basking Ridge. Bridgewater-Raritan will return
to the Raritan Valley Country Club against Pingry School on Thursday, March 28, at 3 p.m.
