Borough of Raritan - Raritan Borough Police Department News and Promotions
On June 11, 2024, in front of the Raritan Borough Governing Body, Family and Friends, our police department promoted four officers and welcomed a new police officer. Thomas Fisher was appointed as the new Chief of Police after a distinguished 24 years of service in the patrol division, criminal investigation division and administrative division. We look forward to Chief Fisher's leadership as he takes command of the helm!
James Raniere was promoted to the rank of Captain after serving 19 years in the patrol division, criminal investigation division and as a Lieutenant. Captain Raniere will now lead the criminal investigation division and administrative division. Everett Holt was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant after serving over 15 years in the patrol division and criminal investigation division. Lieutenant Holt will now lead the patrol division and oversee firearms investigations.
Timothy DeBerry was promoted to the rank of Sergeant after serving nearly seven years in the patrol division. Sergeant DeBerry will now lead patrol squad "C" as a front-line supervisor.
Officer Steven Santangelo was hired as our newest police officer, having previously worked for the Point Pleasant Police Department as a Class II officer. Officer Santangelo will immediately be placed into the field training program and assigned to a patrol squad.
