History Buffs: The Somerville History Roundtable Presents Marge Sullivan: "Saving Somerville's Savings Bank."
The talk will give a brief history of banks in Somerville and why the building on Maple and Main is especially unique. There will be a quick tour of the interior of the bank in its Victorian and its 20th-century versions, thanks to period photos and those taken by Round Table members in 2021. In the end, a discussion -consider why adaptive reuse currently is the best way to preserve this and Somerville’s other classic bank buildings.
This program will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Fire Museum on North Doughty Avenue.
Another program
At 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 9, Art Adair will present "The U.S. Colored Troops," focusing on those heroes who are buried in New Cemetery.
