Raritan Valley Community College’s Arts & Design department will present “A Recital of Major German Composers: Beethoven and Mahler,” Sunday, November 17, at 3 p.m. The hourlong event, part of RVCC’s MOZAIKA Chamber Music Concert Series, will be held in the Welpe Theatre at the College’s Branchburg campus.
The performance will feature music by pianist Abraham Alinea and baritone Dr. Will Berman.
Abraham Alinea, an American classical pianist from Parlin, is recognized for his thoughtful musicianship. He holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Mason Gross School of the Arts and completed his Artist Diploma at the Glenn Gould School under John Perry and David Louie. A winner of the 2017 Rutgers Sinfonia Concerto Competition, he made his orchestral debut with Rachmaninoff’s Third Concerto. Alinea has performed at Carnegie Hall, as well as internationally at Singapore's Victoria Concert Hall. An active soloist, accompanist, and educator, he also composes and has premiered works with the Rutgers Undergraduate New Music Ensemble.
Will Berman, lyric baritone, specializes in art song and has performed in New Jersey, New York, Illinois, and Austria, both as a soloist and with The Patchwork Project. Praised by Out in New Jersey for his performance in Carmina Burana, he recently debuted as Masetto in Don Giovanni with the Button-Down Opera Project. Passionate about contemporary American art songs by female and LGBTQIA+ composers, Berman has performed this repertoire at Raritan Valley Community College. The Hoboken resident serves as a bass with the choir at The Church of St. Luke in the Fields in NYC.
General admission tickets cost $15 each; admission is free for seniors and students. For advance ticket reservations, contact the RVCC Theatre Box Office at 908-725-3420. For additional information, contact Will Berman at will.berman@raritanval.edu.
