New Jersey Hall of Fame Hosts Remembrance Day Event for Its Hero SGT John Basilone, And in Memory of Edward V. Danberry
East Rutherford, NJ – The New Jersey Hall of Fame (NJHOF) will host a Remembrance Day event for its heroic inductee, Congressional Medal of Honor recipient John Basilone. A United States Marine Gunnery Sergeant, Basilone was the only enlisted Marine to receive the Medal of Honor, Navy Cross,and Purple Heart during World War II. He fought at the Battle of Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima and was recently depicted in the HBO miniseries “The Pacific.”
The event will also honor the life of the late Edward V. Danberry, a former New Jersey Hall of Fame board member. Ed was a disabled Army veteran who dedicated his life to honoring and serving veterans and helped support the annual Basilone Parade in his hometown of Raritan, New Jersey.
