Raritan Alert: Raritan Borough Police Arrest Man for Following Woman in 2023
The Raritan Borough Police Department announced the arrest of Nicholas Florez-Sanchez, 27, of Newark, who was charged with Burglary, Criminal Mischief, Possession of Burglary Tools and Theft.
On May 23, 2023, Raritan patrol officers responded to Janssen Pharmaceuticals for a burglary to a motor vehicle.
The victim reported that the window in her 2017 Kia Sportage had been broken and a tote bag containing $544.00 cash was missing.
An investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division revealed the victim had withdrawn money from a bank in Somerville and was followed to Janssen Pharmaceuticals. After the victim exited her vehicle to go to work, it was burglarized. Florez-Sanchez was identified as a suspect after obtaining surveillance footage from various locations and with the assistance of the South Plainfield Police Department. A warrant was then issued for Sanchez's arrest.
On November 4, 2024, Raritan officers took custody of Florez-Sanchez at the Middlesex County Jail. Florez-Sanchez was transported to the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
