SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ – Amateur photographers who want to show off their artistry can enter the Somerset County Park Commission’s 2024 Photo Contest. Photographers will gain inspiration in any of the Somerset County Parks, which offer acres of eye-opening subject matter, such as wildlife, lush flora and fauna, sparkling streams as well as architectural, cultural and historical heritage. Photography categories include Events, Horticulture, People, Wildlife, and Scenic Views. The deadline for submission is Dec. 29.
“I’ve been an avid photographer since 2010, so I was excited to be chosen as a winner in last year’s contest, which provided a great opportunity to share my love of nature through photography,” said 2023 Photo Contest First-Place Winner Richard Fisher. “My favorite destination for photography is Colonial Park with its rose garden, nature trail, and canal where I always find fascinating subjects during any season.”
Each park has a unique landscape with picturesque pathways, wide vistas, and meadows to incite the ultimate creative experience for photographers. Last year’s winning photographs were taken in Colonial Park, Somerset; Natirar, Peapack; North Branch Park, Bridgewater; and Washington Valley Park, Bridgewater.
The park commission will announce the contest winners in January 2025, and they will have their photographs posted on the Somerset County Park Commission’s website, social media sites, and a print copy will be displayed in the park commission’s headquarters for a year.
