Delran Man Charged with Committing 2016 Willingboro Homicide

Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw and Willingboro Township Police Chief Ian S. Bucs announced that a Delran man has been charged with fatally shooting a Mount Laurel resident nine years ago as he was parked in his car in the Country Club Ridge section of Willingboro Township.

Ronny Paden, 31, was charged with Murder (First Degree), Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (Second Degree) and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. The case will now be prepared for presentation to a grand jury for possible indictment.

Paden was served with the warrant inside Bayside State Prison in Leesburg, where he is incarcerated on unrelated charges.

The investigation revealed that on April 15, 2016, at approximately 3:15 a.m., 31-year-old Colby Rodgers was shot multiple times while sitting in the driver’s seat of a Kia Optima on Woodhaven Lane. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

As detectives continued to pursue justice for Rodgers, the investigation revealed that he and Paden were acquaintances who had a falling out prior to the shooting.

The investigation was conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office and the Willingboro Township Police Department. The lead investigators are BCPO Detective Shawn McDonough, WTPD Detective Elijah Hart and WTPD Officer Gil Quinones.

Paden will be prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutor Robert S. Van Gilst, supervisor of the BCPO Major Crimes Unit.

All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
