Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Arrest of South Bound Brook Man on Child Sex Abuse Charges

SOUTH BOUND BROOK, N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives Francisco Roman Jr., and South Bound Brook Chief of Police Douglas LaGrua announced the arrest of Luis Stylianakis, age 24, of South Bound Brook, New Jersey for possession of child sexual abuse material. 

Prosecutor McDonald stated in September 2025, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit was notified by members of the Huntley Police Department in Illinois of an investigation that began in April of 2024, involving a 14-year-old female communicating and exchanging explicit photographs via a social media platform with an individual believed to reside in South Bound Brook, New Jersey. 

Upon receiving this information, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit conducted further investigation, which led to the identification of Luis Stylianakis as the individual communicating with the minor via a social media platform and possessing child sexual abuse materials.

Prosecutor McDonald stated on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, along with members of the South Bound Brook Police Department, responded to Luis Stylianakis’ residence, where he was located and taken into custody without incident. 

Detectives seized Stylianakis’ electronic devices pending further forensic analysis and defendant Stylianakis was transported to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office for processing. Defendant Stylianakis was charged with 3rd degree Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Materials, 3rd degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and 3rd degree Distribution of Obscene Materials to a Minor. Defendant Stylianakis was lodged at the Somerset County Jail and was later released from custody after making an appearance in Superior Court.Prosecutor McDonald, Chief Roman, and Chief LaGrua request that anyone with information relating to this investigation to contact the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit at (908) 231-7100 or the South Bound Police Department at (732) 356-0087 or via the STOPit app.

NOTE: The charges are merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
