American Water Charitable Foundation and New Jersey American Water Launch Community Advancement Grant Program

CAMDEN, N.J. – SEPT. 23, 2025 – The American Water Charitable Foundation, a philanthropic non-profit organization established by American Water (NYSE: AWK), the largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the U.S., along with New Jersey American Water, announced today the opening of the annual Community Advancement Grant Program. This year’s program will award a total of $25,000 to nonprofit organizations and public schools that help expand access to programs and services for groups within communities across New Jersey.

Applications for the 2025 grant cycle are now open and will be accepted through October 24, 2025. Organizations can apply for a grant of up to $5,000 to develop and implement programs, training or community-related projects that strengthen our communities.

“The Community Advancement Grant Program reflects our commitment to supporting meaningful projects that strengthen and uplift the communities we serve,” said Chelsea Kulp, Director of Communication and External Affairs of New Jersey American Water. “By investing in local organizations, in partnership with the American Water Charitable Foundation, we’re helping to create a lasting impact and positive change.”

In recent years, the American Water Charitable Foundation and New Jersey American Water have awarded grants to organizations across the state to help ensure broader community participation for people with less access to programs and services. To qualify for a grant, the organization, project, or event must:

  • Be located within a New Jersey American Water service area
  • Be a new, innovative community initiative or serve as a significant expansion to an existing program
  • Promote participation for people who have less access to programs or services in the community the organization serves
  • Applicants must be classified as a 501(c)(3) public charity or K-12 public school, college, or university.

For more information on how to apply, visit the Community Advancement Grant Program page on the New Jersey American Water website. Applications must be submitted by Oct. 24, 2025.

The grant program is made possible by funding from the American Water Charitable Foundation, as part of its State Strategic Impact Grant Program. State Strategic Impact grants support high-impact projects and initiatives throughout American Water’s national footprint.
