BRIDGEWATER –Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School (SCVTHS) is pleased to announce that Aleyzia Primus, a junior in the Cosmetology program, has been selected as Student of the Month for March 2026. Aleyzia is the daughter of Lynee Layne and Allen Primus of Montgomery.

SCVTHS faculty and staff were asked to nominate a student who is compassionate – someone who consistently shows care and empathy for those around them. The nominated student’s actions create a more caring and inclusive school community and “remind us all of the importance of treating others with understanding and support.” Aleyzia was recognized for her concern for others and her caring attitude, with one teacher stating that she “represents the heart of our school community.”

In addition to being named Student of the Month, Aleyzia is a past recipient of SCVTHS Stellar Student honors. Outside the classroom, Aleyzia is engaged in many extracurricular activities including the Environmental Club, TEEEM Club, and Black Student Union. She also serves as a Peer Mentor, helping current SCVTHS students, and as a Student Ambassador, speaking to middle school students about opportunities available in career and technical education at SCVTHS. Aleyzia is also a member of the Jaguars’ Varsity Basketball team.

Aleyzia has volunteered at the school’s Santa Breakfast, and has put her cosmetology skills to good use doing hair and make-up for theater department plays. She is also one of the voices of the school’s morning announcements.

When not in class or engaged in school activities, Aleyzia works at DJ’s Salon in Branchburg. In her downtime, she enjoys playing “Michael Jackson: The experience” on the Nintendo Wii and watching movies. While she has not yet decided on what she will be doing in the future, Aleyzia is interested in the music and entertainment industry, but is still exploring her career options.

Kristen McNerney, a Special Education and English Instructor at SCVTHS, summed up Aleyzia’s selection as Student of the Month by saying “Whether she is in the classroom or on the court, Aleyzia thinks about the well-being of others, demonstrating a level of empathy that is great to see in a young woman of her age.”

Congratulations to Aleyzia Primus, the March 2026 SCVTHS Student of the Month.
