Somerset County’s Lead-Free Kids Family Health Fair Offers Free Lead Testing for Children, Household Items, and Resources on October 14
(For Immediate Release – Somerset County, NJ): Families are invited to attend a Lead-Free Kids Family Health Fair hosted by the Somerset County Department of Health (SCDOH), on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. The Fair will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Somerset County Human Services Building, located at 27 Warren Street in Somerville.
This free community event is focused on preventing childhood lead poisoning and providing families with resources needed to keep homes and children safe.
Lead Testing for Children
Children ages one to seven can receive a free blood lead test. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. Insurance is not required. To schedule an appointment, visit https://novelhealth.ai/practice/somerset-county-department-of-health-849980.
Household Items Lead Testing
Families can bring up to 5 household items for lead testing. Items may include painted toys, glazed cups, bowls, dishes, and cookware such as pots and pans. As time allows, each family may have up to 5 items tested.
Resources and Education
Learn simple, effective ways to reduce childhood lead poisoning with helpful tips and guidance from local community organizations. Free educational materials and resources will be available for families.
