BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (May 19, 2026) — As global anticipation builds for the world’s biggest soccer tournament, Bridgewater Commons will transform its Center Court into a fan destination with “Goal Zone @ The Commons,” a free interactive soccer experience on Saturday, June 20, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., featuring appearances by New York Cosmos players, goal kick challenges, live match broadcasts, and a chance to win a $1,000 shopping spree.
“As New Jersey plays a growing role in the global soccer spotlight, we wanted to create a space where fans can come together, celebrate their teams, and be part of the excitement,” said Tom Kovacic, Marketing and Business Development Director of Bridgewater Commons. “And with the rich cultural diversity here in Central New Jersey, everyone will have a favorite national team, and we are thrilled to embrace that.”
The featured attraction will be two premium soccer simulators featuring realistic gameplay, precise analytics, and stunning HD visuals for interactive entertainment for athletes and families alike. Guests at any skill level can participate in penalty kicks, target practice, and passing mode to improve their soccer prowess at no charge. The challenges are open to all ages, with no purchase necessary. Participants are automatically entered to win prizes, including a $1,000 shopping spree and other giveaways.
For the less athletically inclined, a DJ playing international tunes will add to the energy and excitement, while a large screen will broadcast live games throughout the event. Interactive photo ops to help visitors share their experience. Bridgewater Commons tenants including Fogo de Chão will offer tastings of international cuisine and other giveaways. Forty-eight flags of the participating soccer teams in the tournament will adorn Center Court and guests are encouraged to represent their favorite national team, adding to the visual glory!
Throughout the day, a special activation by the New York Cosmos will offer exclusive giveaways and a player meet-and-greet experience, with names and times to be announced shortly.
“This new partnership is even more significant and timely this year, as we reintroduce this legendary team to New Jersey in the midst of a global event,” Kovacic observed.
Founded in 1971, the New York Cosmos became a gloabal icon of the sport, featuring legendary players such as Pelé, Franz Beckenbauer and Carlos Alberto. Now the Cosmos are returning to the field in New Jersey, competing in USL League One and based at the historic Hinchliffe Stadium in Paterson. The Comsos’ revival reflects a new renewed focus on, culture entertainment, and the continued growth of soccer across the region.
Retailers across Bridgewater Commons are also getting into the spirit of the global game, offering themed merchandise and fan gear. Stores such as Macy’s, Champs Sports and Lids will feature official tournament apparel and accessories, while specialty retailers including the LEGO Store, Pop Mart, Pandora and Build-A-Bear Workshop will showcase soccer-inspired collectibles and gifts.
Located along Interstate 287 at the intersections of Route 22 and Route 202/206, the 1.1 million-square-foot Bridgewater Commons is Somerset County’s largest shopping, dining and entertainment destination.
