Raritan Valley Community College graduate Nicholas Tadena has received the Transfer Trustee Scholarship from Rider University. The prestigious scholarship is awarded to the top three community college students who are transferring to Rider University. It provides full tuition for two years of fulltime study, with an approximate value of over $83,000.

Tadena, a native of the Philippines who currently lives in Bethlehem, PA, graduated Summa Cum Laude from RVCC with two degrees: an Associate of Science in Mathematics and an Associate of Science in Physics. A member of the Honors College, he also received the Academic Award for Mathematics.

While at RVCC, Tadena was active in the Student Government Association, serving as Vice President of Finance. He also was Vice President of Scholarship for RVCC's chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the honor society for two-year colleges, and completed service learning for the College’s Children’s Campus. Tadena’s other leadership roles on campus include serving as Vice President for both the Astronomy Club and the Filipino PEACE Club. In addition, he was a member of the Math Club and the Campus Fitness Club.

To qualify for Rider’s Transfer Trustee Scholarship, a student must be an active member of Phi Theta Kappa and possess a Grade Point Average of 3.5 or higher from all colleges the student has attended.

When Tadena transfers to Rider University this fall, he plans to major in Mathematics and minor in Physics. His long-term career goals include working as a research scientist.
