Each summer, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office (SCPO) opens its doors to a select group of motivated student interns who are exploring careers in criminal justice, law enforcement, and public service. This year’s interns have officially begun their summer session, gaining firsthand experience inside one of the county’s most important public safety agencies.
The internship program offers students a rare, behind‑the‑scenes look at the daily operations of the Prosecutor’s Office. Interns shadow experienced professionals, observe how cases move through the criminal justice system, and learn how prosecutors, detectives, and community partners work together to keep Somerset County safe.
SCPO shared that the goal of the program is to give students meaningful exposure to real‑world criminal justice work — not just classroom theory. Interns will spend the summer exploring different units, learning investigative processes, and seeing how collaboration across agencies helps support victims, strengthen community relationships, and uphold public safety.

The Prosecutor’s Office expressed enthusiasm about welcoming this year’s cohort, noting that they look forward to seeing what the students accomplish throughout the summer.
This internship continues to be one of Somerset County’s standout opportunities for young people interested in public service — offering hands‑on learning, mentorship, and a chance to contribute to the important work happening every day within the SCPO.
