Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset welcomed a strong turnout this week as community members gathered to explore how adding a colorful variety of fruits and vegetables to everyday meals can support long‑term health. The event, hosted by the hospital’s Community Health Department, offered hands‑on learning, fresh samples, and practical guidance designed to make healthy eating both accessible and enjoyable.

Participants discovered the unique nutrients associated with different produce colors—from antioxidant‑rich berries to leafy greens packed with vitamins—and learned how these foods contribute to energy, immunity, and overall wellness. Attendees also enjoyed fruit and vegetable tastings, a freshly prepared smoothie, and a collection of recipes and tips to take home.

The program featured presentations from Tia Hagins, RD, Community Nutritionist, and Frank Montero, Executive Chef, who shared expert insights, motivation, and easy strategies for incorporating more colorful produce into daily meals. Their engaging demonstrations helped participants see how small, simple changes can make healthy eating more delicious and sustainable.

RWJUH Somerset extended its gratitude to everyone who attended and helped make the event a success, noting that many guests left feeling inspired to “eat the rainbow” and bring more vibrant nutrition into their households.
