A Community Connection on the Raritan River: Fishin’ Meet & Greet at Nevius Street Bridge

Raritan resident Adam Armahizer is inviting neighbors to gather along one of the borough’s most scenic spots—the Nevius Street Bridge—for a community Fishin’ Meet & Greet on Sunday, September 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The idea is promoted as intentionally informal. Armahizer, who spends much of his free time fishing the Raritan River, wanted to create a setting where residents could talk, relax, and enjoy the outdoors without the structure of a traditional meeting.

“I know it’s a little non‑traditional,” he shared, noting his long-standing connection to the river. “I figured this would be a fun way to bring people together and talk about our community in a non‑political setting.”

The gathering is open to all Raritan residents, regardless of affiliation or background. The focus is on conversation—learning about one another, sharing experiences, and discussing everyday life in the borough.

“I want to meet you and hear your story and your ideas,” Armahizer said. “Come fish with me, ask me questions, get to know me, and let’s talk about what we can do to improve our local government and make Raritan a better place to live.”

Residents are welcome to bring their fishing gear, enjoy the riverfront, and take part in a relaxed morning of community connection.
