Somerset County Hosts “Save A Life Day” With Free Naloxone Kits Across the Community

Somerset County is took action on Thursday, September 24, 2026, with its annual #SaveALifeDay — a countywide effort to distribute free Naloxone kits and share lifesaving information about overdose response. Throughout the day, County staff and community partners are stationed across Somerset County offering education, support, and Narcan kits to residents.

Naloxone, often known by the brand name Narcan, is a fast‑acting medication that can reverse an opioid overdose. Somerset County emphasizes that having Naloxone on hand is an essential part of first aid, especially as communities continue working to reduce stigma and increase access to recovery resources.

“It is an absolute honor to spearhead and grow this year's Save a Life Day for Somerset County,” said Karissa Vassallo, Behavioral Health Services Navigator. “Changing the conversation around the opioid epidemic is critical. Whether we’re sharing resources with individuals directly impacted by substance use disorders or helping someone add Naloxone to their first aid kit, our goal is to connect with the community and remind residents that they are not alone — Somerset County is rich with resources, and recovery is possible.”

The Behavioral Health System Navigator provides information, brief support, referrals, consultation, and liaison services for any resident or community partner.
