For Many Somerset County Residents, Recovery, Healing, and Hope Starts at Richard Hall Community Health and Wellness Center

Each year, an average of 2,500 residents enter Richard Hall Community Health and Wellness Center, named after Somerset County's first mental health administrator, to be connected with innovative whole-person care.

Richard Hall, which is located at 500 North Bridge Street in Bridgewater and has been accredited by the Joint Commission for over 20 years, is the cornerstone of Somerset County's mental health system, offering a range of clinical programs and wellness and services for children, adults, older adults and families.

Richard Hall offers clients a full range of services, including on-site behavioral health care, primary medical and dental care through a partnership with Zufall Health, as well as on-site pharmacy services in partnership with Genoa Healthcare. In Somerset County, a client is more than just a diagnosis - they are a friend, a spouse, a daughter or a son – and a valued member of our community

Since 1983, the Richard Hall Community Health and Wellness Center, New Jersey’s only fully integrated, County-funded behavioral health center, has served as a community setting for residents seeking professional help on their journey to health, wellness, and recovery.

“It is not by chance that we have this top-notch health center in the heart of Somerset County - the entire Board has consistently made health and wellness a priority,” said Commissioner Sara Sooy. "Richard Hall continues to provide comprehensive, expert care for residents of all ages, regardless of financial ability, who are facing challenges.”

In 2026, Richard Hall provided over 6,500 hours of case management services outside of traditional talk and or group therapies - including integrating art, music, movement, and more - to support the complex needs of each client.

The individualized, high-quality services offered by Richard Hall also include a multitude of non-clinical wellness groups that promote a person’s physical, emotional, and social wellbeing. In the first half of 2026 alone, over 2,800 clients participated in free wellness groups to reduce isolation, build healthy connections, share personal experiences, and develop healthy coping strategies.

Richard Hall’s approach to integrated behavioral health care is rooted in their mission to create an inclusive, one-stop space that promotes an individual’s right to a healthy mind and body. The Center reduces the need for clients to navigate multiple providers and locations to receive services.

Staffed by over 100 professionals, the Center empowers residents to find support by providing an environment of safety that is stigma-free and fully accepting of all residents. All are welcome here.

Special programs offered by Richard Hall ensure that everyone, regardless of their situation, can connect with the help they need. Two distinctive programs are:

Reach 4 Recovery: provides community-based support and case management for residents impacted by substance use. This program helps residents create a foundation of long-term recovery by developing personalized recovery goals and finding appropriate treatment services, including equine therapy, art therapy, music therapy, and more.

Family Case Management is tailored to meet the unique needs of families affected by substance use. Families can learn how to establish healthy boundaries and connect with resources that can improve the health, stability, and safety of everyone at home.

The expanding client base at Richard Hall has led to the substantial growth of employment opportunities as well as the increased need for volunteers.

“Richard Hall is looking for community members who would like to share their time, talents, and experience with those we serve,” said Executive Director Nicci Spinazzola. “We are especially interested in volunteers who can lead activities such as Tai Chi, veterans’ support groups, wellness activities, creative arts, music, dance, educational programs, and other meaningful opportunities. If you have a skill or passion, you’d like to share, we’d love to hear from you. Or, connect with our Human Resources department to apply for an open employment position.”
