BRIDGEWATER, NJ – The Somerset County Park Commission (SCPC) will begin accepting submissions for its 2026 Photo Contest on November 1, inviting visitors to capture the beauty and diversity of its extensive park system. Park visitors are encouraged to find inspiration throughout the parks, from scenic natural landscapes and vibrant playgrounds to golf courses, hiking and biking trails, historic landmarks, modern architecture, and the many other picturesque settings that make Somerset County’s parks unique.
“Somerset County’s parks offer endless inspiration, and we look forward to seeing the beautiful moments our visitors capture throughout the year,” said Dan Hayes, Director of the Somerset County Park Commission. “From scenic trails and vibrant gardens to family fun at our playgrounds, each year’s submissions showcase the beauty, diversity, and experiences that make our parks so special. We’re proud to highlight the creativity of our park patrons and celebrate the unique perspectives they share with us.”
2025 WINNER OF EVENTS CATEGORY: 1-Events - North Branch Park 2 - Laura Herndon.jpg Submissions must be in by December 30, 2026. The Park Commission will review the submitted photos early in 2027 and select five winners in each of the following categories: Events; Wildlife; Scenic; People; and Horticulture. Photos must be taken by the contest entrant during the year 2026 in a park managed by SCPC and not be altered through computer programs or AI. Each photographer may submit no more than three photos in each category.
Photography Submission Requirements
Entrants must use the following guidelines to submit their photography:
- High-resolution digital photo files should be sent as an attachment to parksinfo@scparks.org with the subject line “Photo Contest.”
- Photo files must be named with the Park, category, and photographer’s name. For Example: “Scenic-Natirar-Jane Smith.jpg” or “Horticulture-Duke Island Park-Timothee Lorrel.jpg”
- Failure to follow these guidelines will result in photos being returned for adjustment and resubmission.
Contest winners will be announced in January 2027 and posted on the SCPC website and social media. First place winners in each of the five categories will be framed and displayed at the Park Commission headquarters at North Branch Park in Bridgewater, NJ.Full information on the contest is available at https://www.somersetcountyparks.org/activities/pages/photo-contest.
