McDonald, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor and Bridgewater Township Chief of Police Paul Payne announced the arrest of Jolee Roberts, age 55, of Bridgewater, New Jersey in relation to the theft by deception of funds from a non-profit organization in Bridgewater.Prosecutor McDonald stated that a matter was referred to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Unit regarding concerns involving the impropriety of funds which was discovered after termination of the non-profit organization’s long-time Finance Officer.Prosecutor McDonald stated that detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Unit and the Bridgewater Township Police Department conducted an investigation into this matter. As a result of the investigation, it was determined that Jolee Roberts cashed numerous checks and utilized credit cards issued to the non-profit organization for unauthorized purchases in excess of $75,000.00 during a two-year period while employed at the non-profit organization. As a result of this investigation, on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, Jolee Roberts was arrested at her residence without incident and charged with 2nd degree Theft by Deception, two counts of 3rd degree Forgery and 4th degree Credit Card Theft. Defendant Roberts was lodged at the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
