ICYMI - NJ American Water Update - 206 may be closed for a few days

The water main break has caused Route 206 to close all lanes in both directions and residents in the Somerville, Raritan, and Bridgewater areas have no water this Wednesday morning.

Raritan Borough Police are providing travel and water updates.

Due to a water main break on Route 206 IFO Sarah Jane’s Restaurant, there will be a disruption in your water system/supply. This directly affects all of Somerville, Raritan, & Bridgewater. Route 206 has been shut down due to this and will be causing a disruption in travel.

Customers may experience low-pressure,or discolored water, said New Jersey American Water."Crews are working diligently to find the exact location of the break and begin repairs," said NJ American Water.

Closures

All schools in the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District are closed on Wednesday due to a water main break on Route 206. Updates will be provided by the school district this afternoon.

All Somerville Schools, YMCA Somerville, Somerville Borough Hall, the Somerville library  and Raritan Borough have announced closures.

Bridgewater Commons announced a delayed opening.

"Avoid Route 206 in Raritan from Somerset Street to Dukes Parkway in Hillsborough. All lanes are closed northbound and southbound," - Somerset County Public Safety.

Manville Police are reporting heavy traffic diverted onto Dukes Parkway into Manville.

Drivers are asked to plan an alternate route to alleviate congestion on Dukes Parkway to South Main Street.
