US Data Census. Gov Offers a Geography Essentials Workshop to the Public
This introductory workshop is geared towards data users who want to master the fundamentals of census geographies. The presenter will provide a guided walkthrough of data.census.gov to explore census geographies and data via interactive maps. The course will begin with larger geographic levels such as Nation, Regions, States, and Counties. Then participants will move onto smaller geographies such as Places, County Subdivisions, Census Tracts, Census Block groups and Census blocks. Participants will also learn about the platform's other features such as geographic profiles, learn some tips and tricks and answers to frequently asked questions.
This class is recommended for those who have completed the Basics of Finding Data Using data.census.gov Workshop, or those familiar with data.census.gov, the Decennial Census and the American Community Survey. Time is allotted throughout the training for questions, and participation is strongly encouraged. Using two monitors is recommended for this class, if available.
To ensure that we maximize the number of attendees, we ask that you only register for a single session. If you need to register for more than one session of the same workshop for any reason, please email us at census.data@census.gov to request this.
