Raritan Borough Police - April 8th News Blotter

On April 8th, 2025, the Raritan Police Department announced the filing of charges against Marquis Esaw, 43, of South Plainfield, Maura McCloud, 20 of Branchburg and Jasmin Foster, 21, of Bridgewater, for a theft that occurred on January 8th, 2025, at the Quick Chek on the Somerville Traffic Circle.

On January 8th, a victim reported that she had left her wallet in the Quick Chek bathroom and returned a short time later to the bathroom to retrieve it. At this time the victim realized a credit card and driver's license and had been taken from the wallet.

As patrol officers were speaking with the victim, she stated her credit card was fraudulently used to purchase $136.00 worth of goods at the Liquor Saver on West Somerset Street. Officers quickly responded to the area, but the suspects had fled. \

Through various investigative methods by our Criminal Investigation Division, Esaw, McCloud and Foster were developed as suspects for this incident. Esaw was charged with Credit Card Fraud, Identity Theft, and Theft by Deception. McCloud and Foster were each charged with Theft of Mislaid Property.

A warrant was issued for Esaw's arrest while McCloud and Foster were each served with a summons to appear in court. We would like to thank the Somerville Police Department and Branchburg Township Police for their assistance in identifying each defendant.
