History Buffs: Upcoming Roundtable Meetings at 7:00 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church
Monday, September 8 — John Basilone. Tim Rack of the Historical & Cultural Committee of Raritan will present the story of John Basilone, Raritan’s WWII hero. His talk will be a brief biography of John Basilone, his childhood in Raritan, his Army service, civilian life, and then his service with the Marines. Find out why he was awarded the Medal of Honor followed by his tour of America and finally his death on Iwo Jima. Learn about his lasting legacy both in the Marines and in his hometown of Raritan.
This is an appropriate time, as the Basilone Parade will take place on Sunday, September 21.
