Franklin Township Officers Treat Local Youth to Rutgers Football Game in a Night of Mentorship and Community Connection

Community policing in Franklin Township continues to shine through meaningful, relationship‑building moments — the kind that stay with young people long after the final whistle blows.

Last Friday, Officers Kenneth Reid and Brandon Belvin of the Franklin Township Police Department took a group of young men they mentor at the Franklin Youth Center to the Rutgers vs. Howard football game. The outing was made possible through the generosity of Deacon Roy Francis of First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens, who provided tickets so the officers and students could enjoy a night out together.

For the young men, it wasn’t just about football. It was a chance to experience what a positive, fun night looks like when you’re focused on your goals, making good choices, and putting in the work. For the officers, it was another opportunity to invest in the youth they guide — showing up not only in uniform, but as mentors who care about their future.

These moments reflect the heart of community policing in Franklin Township: building trust, creating memories, and strengthening the bonds between officers and the young people they serve.
