BRIDGEWATER – Emily Gallardo of Bound Brook, a Freshman in the Business, Entrepreneurship, & Management program at Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School (SCVTHS), has been selected as Student of the Month for October 2024. Emily is the daughter of Gisela and Byron Gallardo of Bound Brook.
Emily’s Spanish instructor, Mr. Guillermo Reina, recommended her for the honor, saying “Since day one, Emily has proven to be a very mature, responsible and committed student. She has shown remarkable leadership qualities, often stepping up to guide her peers in group discussions and teamwork activities. Her commitment to her goals is evident in her diligent work ethic and her ability to stay organized, allowing her to balance her responsibilities effectively. Additionally, her open-mindedness fosters a positive environment encouraging collaboration and diverse perspectives among her classmates.”
Even though she has just started her SCVTHS career, Emily is already very involved in the school community. She is a member of the Yearbook Club, and has been selected as an editor. She is a candidate for the Hispanic Honor Society, and is planning on becoming a Peer Mentor and a Student Ambassador to help students with their transitions to high school.
When she’s not at school, Emily spends time with her family, and helps her sister with her homework. She is also an avid reader, and enjoys a good fiction novel in her down-time. After completing her studies at SCVTHS, Emily is planning on pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, and minoring in finance.
When asked about her feelings on being named Student of the Month, Emily said “Thank you for the recognition given to me with this award, even though I just started attending this school. Thank you for the motivation to keep going.”
Emily will be honored for her achievement at the Somerset County Vocational Board of Education meeting on Monday, October 28th.
