More Than a Market: Hunterdon Community Farmers Market Returns for a Highly Anticipated Second Season
FLEMINGTON, NJ – March 22, 2026 – Following a wildly successful inaugural year, the Hunterdon Community Farmers Market (HCFM) is thrilled to announce its return for the 2026 season. Opening Day is set for Sunday, May 3rd, 2026, at the historic Dvoor Farm in Flemington — and this year, the market is bigger, bolder, and more rooted in community than ever before.
Launched in 2025 as a newly established 501(c)(3) nonprofit, HCFM carried forward an 18-year tradition once managed by the Hunterdon Land Trust, now with a renewed mission to support high-quality local growers and makers, educate the public about sustainable agriculture, and expand equitable food access across the region. The overwhelming response from Hunterdon County residents in year one proved the community was ready for exactly this.
For the 2026 season, the market will feature an expanded lineup of local farms and producers. This year, area residents will find even more organic fruits and vegetables, humanely raised meats, pasture-raised dairy products, heritage breads and baked goods, foraged wild mushrooms, seasonal local honey, small batch roasted coffee, flowers, and more. The market is also expanding to include locally produced wine, beer, and other spirits. This growing mix of vendors continues to showcase the depth and diversity of Hunterdon County’s agricultural community and the region’s thriving network of local food producers and artisans.
As the market heads into its second season, the team is shifting its focus from simply promoting the market to creating a true sense of place. "Our first season exceeded all expectations. We saw firsthand how this market regenerates our local economy, preserves farmland, and brings people together week after week. In 2026, we're not just growing a market, we're growing a community." — Dean Buttacavoli, Farmer & Founding Director, HCFM
What's New for 2026?
The 2026 season brings a host of exciting additions designed to deepen the market's role as a true community gathering place:
- New "House Tent" for Local Businesses — A dedicated weekly space where local businesses can sign up to promote themselves and host interactive community activities, strengthening the connection between the market and the broader Hunterdon economy.
- Expanded SNAP/EBT Access — Reinforcing our commitment to equitable food access, the market will continue to accept and double SNAP benefits for eligible shoppers.
