Hillsborough Partners with Local Library Branch to Go Green for Halloween
“Hillsborough Township and the Hillsborough Branch of the Somerset County Library System
(SCLS) are partnering to ‘Go Green for Halloween,” announced Mayor John Ciccarelli at the September 9th Township Committee meeting.
The Go Green for Halloween initiative encourages Hillsborough residents to “get into the spirit of recycling” by donating their clean, gently used costumes in the drop box located at the entrance to the Hillsborough Library between September 15th and 25th. Donated costumes can range in size from children to adults, and even include pets.
“It’s our pleasure to partner with the Hillsborough Library for the Go Green for Halloween initiative this year, “ said Recreation Director Griffin Dunne. “Hopefully, this collaboration is only the beginning.”
Once all the costumes are collected and organized, Hillsborough residents can stop by the
Municipal Complex to “shop” for free, “new to you” costumes. Costume shopping days are
Friday, Sept. 27th, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, and Saturday, Sept. 28th, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
“SCLSNJs Hillsborough Library is very excited to partner with the Hillsborough Township
Recreation Department to host this year’s Halloween Costume Exchange,” said Library Branch Manager Catherine DeBerry. “Collaborations like these strengthen community connections, bring families together, and make it easier for everyone to participate in fun, sustainable, and inclusive events. By working with local organizations, Library staff can share resources and create opportunities that benefit all of Hillsborough.”
