The New Jersey Studies Academic Alliance (NJSAA) is bringing local history to life with its latest Lectures on Tap event in Hillsborough. Hosted at Flounder Brewing, the program will feature a special presentation by Gregory Gillette, Hillsborough’s Local Historian and a twenty‑year member of the Township’s Historic Commission.
Gillette’s talk will explore what Hillsborough looked like in the 1770s, offering a vivid picture of the community during the early years of the American Revolution. Attendees will learn why the area held strategic importance during the war and how its landscape, farms, and crossroads contributed to the broader fight for independence.
In addition to the well‑known historical moments, Gillette will highlight lesser‑known stories of Hillsborough patriots—residents whose courage, service, and sacrifices helped shape the township’s Revolutionary legacy. These personal narratives offer a deeper understanding of how local families experienced the conflict and contributed to the nation’s founding.
NJSAA invites community members, history enthusiasts, and anyone curious about Hillsborough’s past to join them for an evening of learning, storytelling, and local pride. With Gillette’s deep knowledge and passion for the township’s heritage, the event promises to be both informative and engaging.
